Meet Blueberry, who was awarded a TOBY Industry Choice Award this year. He is made out of a dense, hand-dyed Schulte mohair in a wonderful shade of lavender blue. I saw this piece of fabric at the first Philadelphia doll and teddy bear convention and knew I had to have it. I was finally brave enough to cut out a bear, and Blueberry was born. Because the fur is such a wonderful texture and color, I made him a ruffled collar, which is a very pale gray satin, and seems to reflect the color of his fur.

I have done very extensive scissor and needle sculpting to his face and have added some color to bring out his features. He has hand blown lavender glass eyes to which I have added a single upper eyelid and double lower eyelids. His nose is hand embroidered with pearl cotton.

The bear is about 11-1/2" standing (which he does not do by himself) and 8" sitting. He is five way jointed with hard board disks, locks nuts and a cotter pin in his neck. He has a pouch of copper BB?s in his bottom for a bit of added weight and has ultrasuede paw pads which have been sculpted with subtle shading added. His arms are also wired to give him more pose-ability.
