Say �How-do� to Augustus. This bear was inspired by a character from the epic Western novel, Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurty. In the story, Augustus was a rough and tumble trail boss who somehow managed to come across as dignified and honorable in spite of his not-so-genteel frontiersman ways. Gus is none too young, but a life of hard work and experience have earned him a stout and vigorous demeanor, which gains him due respect and sets well with the ladies from time to time.

Gus is fashioned from a somewhat scruffy blonde mohair with darker back. He fixes his gaze resolutely past his grizzled needle-felted muzzle and turns his deep brown glass eyes upon you with a warm smile as if to say, �Mighty pleased to make your acquaintance.� As he smiles, you notice just a hint of rosy wool fibers embedded into his muzzle that bring out the best in his weathered complexion. Gus�s paws and foot pads are trapunto-padded ultra suede with a hint of accent color. In typical Old West style, he wears a Sherpa-lined suede vest (faux), edged with hand-stitching. Slung around Gus�s neck is his well-worn neckerchief, which served him as a handy sweat-wipe and dust mask on the grimy cattle trail.
