In a lush reserve, there lived a sad bear named Mary. She wandered the paths with a heavy heart, sighing deeply, longing for vast forests and open spaces. The reserve felt so small, and each day seemed to stretch endlessly. One sunny afternoon, she encountered a lively squirrel named Switch.

“I climbed the oldest oak tree!” he chattered excitedly. “You won’t believe it—the reserve is huge! It’s just fenced in to protect us all. Beyond it, there are people hoping to catch a glimpse of us.”

Mary’s ears perked up. “People?” she asked, intrigued. “What do they want?”

“They bring treats!” Switch exclaimed, his eyes twinkling. “Delicious snacks!” At the mention of treats, Mary’s eyes sparkled with excitement; she loved tasty things!

Determined, Mary approached the fence for the first time. As she peeked over, she was met with cheerful shouts. The humans were thrilled to see a bear! Some offered her carrots, others apples, and many berries. Each smile warmed her heart.

Suddenly, a memory flooded back: her grandmother, wise old Flo, who had once fled from a poacher, always sharing her food with her little cubs.

In that moment, Mary realized something profound. It didn’t matter how big the world was around her; what truly mattered was the kindness and love surrounding her. With newfound joy, Mary embraced the happiness of her little reserve, where gentle humans cared for her.
