Vasiliy
by Maryna Petrova
14.5 inches (37 centimeters)

Once upon a time, a little girl named Maryna found an old key in her grandmother's attic. She had no idea what it was for, but she loved the way it looked, all rusty and mysterious. She decided to keep it as a treasure.

One day, Maryna decided to make a teddy bear, using a beautiful piece of hand-dyed Italian viscose fabric she found in her grandmother's sewing box. She spent many hours carefully stitching the bear together, using a mixture of sawdust, wood wool, kapok, buckwheat hulls, glass and mineral pellets to stuff him. She added a pair of sparkling English glass eyes and a cute little nose, and tied the old rusty key around his neck.

The bear was her constant companion, and she named him Vasiliy. She loved to imagine all the adventures he must have had in his life, and the secrets that the old key around his neck held. Vasiliy was always there to comfort her when she was sad, to listen when she needed someone to talk to, and to protect her from imaginary monsters under the bed.

And so, the story of Vasiliy the teddy bear began, a tale of love, imagination, and the power of friendship.
